ecu codes.
i got my engine light working, the **** that i bought it from didn't put the bulb back in for the engine light. i checked my codes, got 5 of them. 3, 12, 20, 21, 41.
i know which one is which.
3 - MAP Sensor (Manifold Absolute Pressure) (this one is fine, my class A buddy was checking things and unplugged it, and plugged it back in.)
12 - EGR Lift Sensor (Exhaust Gas Recirculation)
20 - Electrical Load Detector
21 - VTEC spool solenoid Valve
41 - Primary Oxygen Sensor - Heater circuit malfunction (last time i checked, my heat is fine)
just wondering what i should start looking for for each one? first things are check connections, look for the green death, thats about what i will check.

Like you said, check all connections. Probe some wires and make sure everything is on par with factory specs.
Also, since your buddy was messing with the map sensor, reset your ECU, drive the car for a bit, and see which codes come back. That one should go away if it is infact "okay"
got around to trying to fix the CEL. i decieded to attack the EGR code, i took the egr off, cleaned it with carb cleaner, got all the gunk off it, cleaned as much as i can on the inside of the valve, and where it goes on the engine. the plunger works good, it goes up and down smooth. replaced the gasket. put it back on. i reset the ECU, drove around for a bit, checked the CEL getting 3 codes now. EGR is still one of them, same with the VTEC and electrical load detector. did a bunch of reading on the interanet they said that if the plunger goes up and down smooth i shouldn't have to replace it. why am i still getting a fault? i plugged it back in, im not that dumb. driving with a CEL bothers me, let alone not having any VTEC. i have a digital display for my battery output. it reads 14.4 when the car is running, will that thro the code for the electrical dectector?

By the way, the electrical load detector (ELD) is an energy saving device that turns off the alternator when it is not needed. The code could indicate either a bad ELD or faulty wiring/connectors between the ELD, alternator, and ECU.
it's a 95 civic with an h22. as fas i know, they only way to retrive codes is by reading the blinking lights for my gen. where would i located these ELD devices so i can check the condition of them.

The ELD is in the under-hood fuse/relay box (picture 1).
How to troubleshoot the VTEC code is shown in pictures 2 and 3.
I'll post EGR code troubleshooting later.

Here are the details for EGR code troubleshooting (pictures). As you will see, a vacuum pump with gauge and a multimeter are needed to perform the tests, which allow you to identify the faulty EGR system component(s).

dug in on fixing the VTEC. checked all my wiring, hoping it was a simple break in the wire. no. getting good contuinty all the way back to the ecu. get 13.8 ohms across the VTEC spool solenoid. my guess is that it's the ecu thats not engaging the VTEC at 5500. for the ELD mine isn't in the fuse block under the hood. i will have to look it up for the 95 civic and see where it's located. my EGR doesn't have a vacumm line coming out of tit. just the connections for the power and stuff. gonna have to try the bits and pieces of those suggestions posted. i was reading online and read that a p28 ecu would be decent for the car. does the ecu have to be from an h22? does it have to be programmed for an h22? unsure.
codes have been fixed. cleaned the egr real good. shoved a big pipe cleaner in there and cleaned around. turned the car on and blew it all out. i reset my ecu. and no codes shown. took it for a spin. and vtec is the sweetest sound on a 3' SS exhaust. the day after the codes where gone. cel came back on, on my home from work. when i got home i checked the codes, they were the same ones. were the codes stuck in the memory? i left it over night and in the morning there no codes. there hasn't been any since. im looking on getting a p28 tuned to my h22.
