Default Hesitation/"hiccuping" when accelerating

I've got a 94 EX coupe, 5 speed, 154k on the clock. Just got it a couple days ago, and there is a hesitation/hiccuping type thing when I'm giving it gas at lower RPM's in 2nd through 5th gear. It's much more pronounced and noticeable going up hills and doesn't do it as much at about 3000 RPM's or more. It's at it's worst when I'm climbing a hill in a higher gear than I should be, trying to muscle it out. I just replaced fuel filter which was bad and it still does it. My family seems to think it might be the timing belt? Could it be clogged injectors?

Also, the previous owner told me how it was low on oil a couple weeks ago so he added some but it was a different kind than what he used to fill it up with. He didn't remember the oil he uses and whether it was synth or not but he knows the quart he added was different. I don't know. I'm definitely going to change the oil tomorrow but could that even be the problem? This is confusing the hell out of me. Please help. Thanks.

the fuel filter could be clogged. thats a commen symptom that ive seen happen.
a friend of mine had a miss below like 4Krpm and then he changed the fuel filter and it wwas like brand new.

wouldnt hurt to put some inj cleaner through it jus to be safe

I did just replace the fuel filter, and it didn't help. I put a bottle of Seafoam into the gas tank and it's currently 100 miles in and haven't noticed any change, but there's still a lot of miles left in the tank.

Plugs, wires, cap &rotor, timing and you're good.

since you;ve got two kinds of oil, and seafoam in there, do this.. Change the oil, then check the timing with a light to make sure that's all set.

The guy I bought it from had the cap and ignition coil replaced the day I purchased it, the mechanics thought that was the problem but evidently not. I'm gonna change the oil tomorrow and then check the timing. Thanks.
