Default obd2 tuning

Ok so i was talking to a budy of mine and he told me that you can only tune a obd2 ecu one time. is there any truth to this? I'm bascily stock right now but i was wanting to upgrade my injectors (just need new ones and figured id go up a little in size) do a short ram air, and an exhaust. once i got that done i was going to get my ecu tuned. then i was planning on getting another motor building it and turboing the car, as everybody knows once you do this you have to tune your ecu. so is there any truth to what he said?

also. once i do the first part of my list done i know ill get better performance and hp out of my motor, but if i tune it will i get even more once that is done?

Ive got a lot flowing in my head so if anything didnt come out right let me know and ill try and explain it again
Thanks in advance,
Wes

You cannot tune OBD2, unless you use a piggyback system (E-Manage, VAFC etc). The preferred method of tuning however is converting to OBD1 (P28 with a OBD2 [a or b] to OBD1 harness), chipping the ecu, and using a program such as Hondata, Ectune, Crome..etc.

There is no point in getting upgraded injectors for a motor with just an intake and exhaust. If you have an issue with you current injectors, replace the bad one(s) with another OEM for the time being and leave the ecu alone until you are ready for the new motor. Also, whats the point in spending money in this current motor if you are planning on dropping another in soon(er or later)?

With an intake and exhaust, you will gain ~3-5 hp. If you tune the car, and you are on a dyno to actually see the changes from tuning, you can get more out of it. If you, yourself tunes the vehicle, make sure you have something that reads the A/F ratio (wideband and A/F gauge). Otherwise, you blindly tuning, which isn't the best way to go about this type of thing. Unless you don't care about your motor.

Just make sure you search and read everything. All of the information is out there, you just have to find it by searching around and reading.

my injectors are slacking a lil, they are hanging open a little bit causing it a lomger crank time. i was only going to upgrade them because i was going to replace them and figured it would give me more hp. i was not going to be the one to tune it. i was going to have it done at a shop. but from what you are telling me it is pointless to do all of that now. i am planning on doing a full build in about 2 years. im sifting through the post the best i can but im just lost in this world and dont understand a lot of things. im a noob to the fullest and do a lot of reading.
thanks for the info man.
