vtech issues
when i did my swap it was the same motor a d16y8 ..it came out of a 98civic ex and mine is a 97 civic ex...well after the sawp my car redlines at 5500 rpms...well somtimes when i first start it and gas it all the way it goes to 7000rpms..but after it idles for a sec it goes back to 5500 rpms redlining....so i dont know if its an issue with my ecu ....or somethin different.the top 2 things peoples told me it was was my ecu or my distibutor ?...any ideas what the problem is so i can have my vtech back.....
" and idk what ecu im running its just a stock ecu it came with if any help !!!

Is the CEL ON? If so, retrieve CEL code(s) from ECU as described in the link in my signature.
Not sure if you have an ECU mismatch. Did you use the 97 ECU from your car or the 98 ECU from the car that you got the engine?

Your ECU could be a mismatch but if the right one was in there before the swap, then it's the right one. It wouldn't hurt to check if you infact have the right one. Your ECU could be bad (this rarely happens). Is your VTEC solenoid wiring harness plugged in? Check and see it it's in there snug.
well im not exactly sure which ecu is in it its either my old one or the new one......but i did find a plug down by my alternator its green and its not pluged in but idk where it goes to ive looked everywhere in the area itll reach and found nothin so its just chillin and i didnt know if it was part of it or not.....as for the vtech solenoid where exactly is it located at so i can check it aswell...." i also went to advancedautoparts and had them run a code check and only code came back for was a fuel..i have yet to do a whole computer check to see if itll tell me exaclty or not...And no it idles fine and accelerates smoothly to its just no vtech !
your selenoid should be next to your starter

Post a photograph of the unidentified connector near the alternator. Someone may be able to tell you what it is.
Also post the specific fuel CEL code that was retrieved by advancedautoparts. This could potentially lead to a solution for the problem you are having.
