Default Question about engine replacing

Hi guys. I read the engine swap codes threads on top but I didn't quite understand it. First the problem with the car is that it over heats and it uses up lots of antifreeze and there's lots of white smoke from the exaust. My father replaced the radiator and the thermostat and the same problem still occurs. The car is a '95 civic ex with automatic transmission. I don't who my dad got the idea from but he wanted to know if a '97 civic ex motor with manual transmission would fit in the '95 civic. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

It will bolt right in just like an engine from your model year would. It uses the same mounts you already have.

Yea it'll fit fine, but the issue you are having sounds like a bad head gasket since you are saying you have white smoke and you are over heating.

yes the motor and trans will fit, but, you will need to strip the motor down and put everything from your old motor onto the new one, also you will need to convert your auto car to a manual car,

make the motor work...
-only use the head and block of new engine put everything else from old motor onto it.

make the trans work....
-you need the 97's front complete drive train assembly, or use your old cv axles.
also need to find a 92-95 manual civic and get the pedals, shift linkage, shifter, clutch master cylinder, hydrolic lines, you will also need to use the 97 starter.

easier way to solve your problem, put a new head gasket on your old motor. also have the head shaved when its off.
