Replacing my Engine
Hey Everyone,
I have a 97 EX where I just blew my engine, basically the guy who sold it to me lied and told me the timing belt was changed and it wasn't so it went and I ended up throwing a rod threw my block.
I have been looking for a D16y8 engine which is getting really hard to find, not to mention I live in VT so shipping kills me too.
I was just recently told that I can use any block and just get a Y8 head and put it on the block. Is this true?? Can any civic block be used?? I figured the mounting would be different, but I don't know a lot about it.
Thanks

Did the timing belt actually fail? Usually a bad timing belt will mess up the valves, but throwing a rod is not common. Take your head off and examine the valves. If they're not cracked or bent you should be able to re-use your head on another block. As itinerant said, any D series 1600 cc block will work.
