Default Rebuild or Swap?!?

OK, don't laugh, but my wife wants to save her '87 Real Time Civic 4X4 Wagon from the scrap yard. We bought this car in '89 with 20k on it and have taken great care of it. We live in AZ the body is rust-free. Never wrecked or smoked in. Regular maintenance. Goes like hell in snow and even off road. OK, you get it: Good, super reliable car. Its got 213k on it now and runs ok but is getting pretty tired and starting to use oil. The 1.5 is a decent motor, but is carburated (that's another issue). It has the 6 speed tranny with Super Low.

Is it even conceivable to put a V-Tech in this thing? If so, what all's involved?

I did a 350 Chevy / 700R4 auto swap into a FJ60 Land Cruiser and it came out KILLER, but these little engines scare me!!

Thanks, Hunter out in Arizona

Default RE: Rebuild or Swap?!?

Im not sure. An engine swap would be best. OBD1 should be ok.
