Default Sorry for the Newbie question

I have a 97 Civic 1.6 sohc. I have a little oil in my distributor. The new distrubutor cap came with O-rings. Do I pull the Dist off to change these? Will I need to set the timing after this?
Thanks for your help!!!!!

if the seal is gone, you will have to pull the dizzy to change the O ring. You dont have to reset any timing, but do this before you pull it. Take a screwdriver and scratch a line across the the dizzy and the mounting point so when you put it back on, all you have to do is line up the lines.
