Default valve tick after adjustment

I did a valve adjustment (twice in fact after the first didn't quite satisfy me) and now I seem to hear slightly
more valve tick noise. Do you hear more noise when the clearance is greater (looser) or smaller (tighter)?

Also, I notice that when I turn the engine off, the engine stops sooner than I "think" it did before the adjustment.
My guess is that I had tight valve clearance and some of the valves were slightly open... leading to less resistance
on the cylinders with more blow by gas. Now with the greater clearance, the valves probably sit flush and cause greater resistance to the moving cylinders during engine slow down. Am I right?

my bad. lookin at the manual, the picture was confusing and I adjusted the valves using the
clearance between the cam and the rocker arm. for my '93 dx, the clearance was supposed to be
based on the space between the valve and the rocker. i had another car where i had to adjust
the clearance on the cam and got confused.

yeah you have to do it on the other side of the rocker arm that pushes against the valve
