No it is not typical they consume about a half a quart every 3k miles or so. The whole 1 quart/50 miles most likely indicates bad oil control rings. You really should rebuild the engine.

oh man. youre setting yourself up for tragedy. do u know how a wenkel works? do u know that 13mpg isnt far from normal? fc's arent particularly easy to source parts for. 13b's are temperamental. good luck turboing a n/a 13b. the turbo 2 cars were waaay different than the n/a cars. you should rebuild, and bridge (peripheral) port it. couple of webers and enjoy the flamethrower exhaust. i know where there is an fc in better shape than that one for 500. let me know if youre close to bham alabama...

yes I know how a Wankel works its not the first time I've rebuilt one. I know that its not typical for it to consume that much oil and yes it will receive a full engine rebuild. actually I'm swapping it with the turbo 2 engine after I gut it, rebuild the NA motor and sell it. I'm an automotive technology major. I'm not worried about miles to the gallon I'm not building a daily driver with it. and No unfortunately I'm not in Alabama I live in Washington.

Ha large distance from the Washignton to Alabama... good luck with the build! Can't wait to see some pics. I'm not a huge fan of that body style though, I like the next generation better (not sure the generation names or whatever... not a big rx7 person). My friend has a '93 twin turbo RX7, talk about beast lol.

lol Twin turbo no **** yeah the last generation gets all the credit but I actually love all 3 generations. the original is a classic, just as is the 75 celica, corolla AE86.
