so with what the block says and the head says, and the pics of the car? you think its just an ex with hx badges or hx with motor swap? its a swap they did a really good install cause it looks stock to me under the hood

By the pics, you have a HX/DX/LX/CX/NON-EX paint scheme where the mirrors, side moldings, door handles, are not painted. If it was a true EX, those all would have been painted to match the rest of the car.

The motor you have in there seems to be from an EX. So, my conclusion is that you purchased a HX with an EX motor in it. Quicker, yes. Gas efficient as the y5, not necessarily.

Those wires you were referring to before near the trans do not look stock. I really can't seen anything else in your engine bay since the picture is small.

Also, did you see if the title has the trim listed? What about the VIN?

the title says "cp" under style which stands for coupe, it doesnt say the exact model trim.. oh well thanks for the help guys it runs really good and i been averaging about 32-34 mpg and thats what i bought it for so im happy, i just thought i was going to be gettin 40 mpg but turns out i was duped! thanks for your help cvcrcr99!

well i just looked up the vin and it said it was a 1997 honda civic hx with a cvt transmission?! but now its a 5 speed, so that just seems like a ton of work and interior modification to make it look stock and so good? something seems fishy

Automatic to manual conversions are actually rather simple and common. The frame of the car is made so either one can bolt on. As long as you have a complete matched set of EX parts, it's still a good car.
