Since I'm a nice girlfriend, I want to surprise my boyfriend by buying him a rolling chassis of a hatch. He's got a '97 right now, and I'd like to find one of that generation (I'm not sure what the years are for that.) all the way up to a 7th gen.

Now, I don't want to spend more than $1K on basically a shell. My question is how much do hatches that have no engines or trans (and even no interior) go for around these parts? Keep in mind I am definately no Honda expert. The only thing I know for certain are Ford vehicles. I also live in Indiana, so if anyone can give me some hints on where to find one, that'd be much appreciated as well!

Thanks for the suggestion, but I haven't found anything on there yet. How much do you think I would be paying for a shell? A round about number... ?

 

I don't live in the midwest, but out here you can pick up an EK shell for under a grand, as long as someone's selling it.
