Noise heard after car started and turning steering wheel.
I have a 2007 Civic Ex. When I start the car after it's been sitting for more than an hour, I hear a noise when I turn the steering wheel a few times. It makes a "dong" sound, but after I start driving the is no more sound.
Just sent to the dealer, the service manager told me that it's a "normal" sound coming from the bearing where the suspension is, and that it happens to all the cars. Nothing can be done to rectify the problem he told me.
Has anyone else encountered this problem?

I don't think it's the steering motor.
From what I gather, the sound is like plucking a guitar string that happens only when the car is started after a long sit and the wheel is turned for the first time after the long sit.

RE: Noise heard after car started and turning steering wheel.
i have actually heard two sounds in my car. I first hear a popping noise that was described as a guitar string and another grinding sound. the only time it does it is after its been sitting awhile and it only pops and grinds one time after that there are no noises until the car has been left sitting for a couple of hours or so. my car has been lowered and it makes the same noises now as it did before and specifically asked the technician at honda to check out the front suspension, steering and cv shafts to see if he noticed anything wrong but he said that everthing was perfect and my car is an 01 so you guys my be having the same sounds I wouldn't worry about it unless it gets worse or more frequent.
