Default Grinding sound when turning steering wheel

When I turn the wheel of my 1991 Civic, there is a clicking or grinding sound. Can anyone tell me what might be the problem. I don't hear any noise when the wheels are facing straight ahead, only when I'm turning. The sharper the turn, the louder the grinding.

Thanks.

Can anyone tell me the approximate cost that a mechanic would charge to replace the 2 CV joints?

Thanks.

Call up a dealership and ask the service department. The cost estimate they give you will be on the high end, but the man-hour estimate will be pretty close to actual.
