Default Thinking about buying a latest gen Civic

I currently have a '99 Corolla and I'm seriously considering an '06 or newer Civic.

The 5 speed manual Corolla's been a fantastic car; unbelievably reliable, still gets 38 MPG with 201K miles on it, everything still works and the car runs and drives fine, and it's reasonably comfortable. However, I'm getting older and while driving a stick at times is still enjoyable for me, it's a real pain in the a$$ in heavy traffic, so I want my next car equipped with an automatic.

While I like '03 and newer Corollas, I like the '06 and newer Civics better. Not only are they better looking, they just seem to be a better car all around. I absolutely love the Civic's 5 speed automatic. However, I have heard some things about the latest gen Civics that leaves a little cautious about buying one.

Some have said they're reliability isn't up to the levels of the previous gens.

Some have said the 5 speed auto is problematic.

Some have said to stay away from the '06 model because since that was the first model year of the current gen, they were still working out some bugs so it had more problems that later year models.

Is there any truth to any of these statements? Is there anything else about this car I should consider before buying one?

if you want reliablility, go for a 92 - 00. 5th and 6th gens are insane reliable stock. they last forever. i havent heard anything bad about 7th gens either actually.

That's too old. I'm going to want something newer than my Corolla.

.. who cares what year it is, unless your one of those "im rich so im better than you" kinda people haha. as long as it runs and is reliable, then who cares haha... idk what to tell ya then, im not familiar with newer models of civics, i dont know much about cars but what i do know is from 92-00 models. sorry

and i bet you can find you a 92-00 model with less than 50k miles.. low miles + civic = insanely reliable

There isn't anyone in this forum who can give me any insight on the new Civic? This is a Civic forum, right?

First off, let me appolgise for Supersize. Every forum has a post *****, and he is ours. He tries to help, but ends up doing quite the opposite. And Super, don't send anyone away from our forum like that. Quite counter-productive.

The new civics are nice. The only issues I am currently aware of is the rear camber gets out of line, and the visors breaking. We had a few people with the 06-07 models complain about it. I believe they had a recall and fixed the camber issues.
