Default what do I need to ask about

I'm going to check out a 1990 crx si($1000) later today or tomorrow. What should I be asking the owner about? I can figure out the basics(mileage, repairs, maintenance) but I need to know what I should be looking for. It looks ok from the few pics I have but they dont tell the whole story. I've been searching the interweb and the members here really seem to know their shizzit. I've been thru most of the threads and wasnt finding what I was looking for. So I call on you any help y'all can give me would greatly be appreciated. Sorry I dont have more info.
Thanks

car looks pretty clean minus the painter interior.... but with any crx or older honda bring a jack to lift the rear end up so you can look under it clearer. hondas worst problem is rust! if the underbody rusts out to bad the car is just for PARTS!!!! also check the rear center brace..... that part is frequently rusted badly and needing to be replaced to be safe... otherwise you hit a bump to hard and the LCA mount will just bust loose from the unibody and really throw ya for a loop!!!

Totally agreed man. I had a 90 crx and it was a rust bucket!

I'd say rust is your main concern, once it gets in there it just eats away. If you have a good mechanic maybe you can get the compression on the engine tested as well.

And if you look at it and still want to buy it I would give your mechanic like $50, or whatever they charge per hour, to do a full inspection/quick test drive. Before I got my civic I was gonna get a 96 accord sedan, seemed to be fine and I test drove it, but gave it to my mechanic to look at for $50 and he found the CV joints were actually cracked and going to give out soon. The person would not drop the price so I ditched it and ended up with a manual civic w/ 115K miles for $3500 and I'm quite happy I did
