Addiction2bass truck project thread
well lately i havent done much to the truck but got alittle work done, found me a smooth front bumper and swapped that onto my truck.
but mainly after looking about 6months i finally got a matching tan 60/40bench seat!
i got really lucky... was at my local picapart junk yard and they have a seperate lot full of CFC vehicles and second one on the lot had a tan interior and it matched my truck PERFECTLY... i asked the manager when they might put those vehicles out on the lot... and he said not till winter some time. so i offered him 100bucks if i could pull the seats out from it right then.. and he said alright go pull em
it normally only would have cost me 28bucks or 50bucks depending if they tried charging me for bucket seats since they are seperate.... but 100bucks is a good price still for these seats! they are in great condition even better than my bucket seats!
i sold my old grey full bench seat for 120bucks that i only paid 30bucks for... so i just say that profit from my other seat went to this new seat.
only downfall with the deal really is i couldnt remove the seat belts, so i had to cut the one lap belt so i could get the seat out of the truck.
tho today i went to my local pullapart junk yard that had some old trucks andn i got lucky, they had one older truck that matches close enough, a light tan so they will match good for now. still trying to find some 95-98 seat belt latches in tan but at least im not in a rush now.

so far VERY HAPPY with the swap.... only downfall is i lost about 1/2 my storage space and console cup holders. BUT o well.... i got a huge arm rest
and mostly this winter im ready to go BIG with the new stereo setup in the rear which was one main reason why i wanted 60/40 bench seat instead of my bucket seats.
i probably wont be putting the new system together until after newyears most likely... ive been spending quite a bit lately on a new big screen tv, surround sound, gps unit and also getting a new xbox360 MW2 limited console next month.
so im taxed out money wise right now! LOL just getting ready for my winter hibernation i guess you could say. LMFAO
o ya with my new 60/40 seats. they dont even have any cig burn marks on them. and my buckets do.
hoping to have this guy locally come get my buckets and console for 200bucks plus his tan seat belt latches. but he hasnt emailed me back yet.
AND YES...... I KNOW i need to clean my trucks carpet!!!!!! previous owner made a mess around the console! tho i think im going to TRY and get the carpet from the junk yard truck i pulled the seats from and HOPEFULLY no one else beats me to the trucks carpet. it was pretty clean only difference is my truck is a 3door and it was just a extended cab 2door.

dang been awhile since i updated... but i havent done much lately. helping parents pack up a bunch of furnature for florida home they got. and just been doing little things here and there.
last week i finally got my exhaust pipes redone after the bullet mufflers since i had to cut off the old ones when i lowered the truck. only thing that sucked was they couldnt use my old pipes so i had to freaken pay for all new pipes, and this time i splerged on some stainless steel tips which look good and sounds great, and most importantly not as much drone noise when driving
sorry no pics of them because ive been to lazy and they are really dirty now. every time i feel like taking a video its way to windy out and my camera hates wind and audio!
today i just got done cutting up a oem gmc grill and installing a Trex 30bar billet grill. tho i didnt notice i missed sanding one spot smooth around the opening i had to cut out but o well. i plan on repainting it next spring once i buy good paint so i can paint the grill and hood and tailgate all at the same time and match the stock paint. right now i just rattle canned it with what im HOPING is a closer match to the paint on my truck. but if not o well till spring

cut off the chrome ring first just so i could use it for something else in the future.

quality grill. nice looking welds

and after spray painting the grill and riveting in the billet grill.

so far my only slight issue is the middle sides bowing out a bit from the stock grill. i can squize them together no problem, but i just gotta figure out how im going to make it hold tight and flush!
so far the idea is simply grind up a ruff spot on the back of the grill and with some clear epoxy run some glue over the billet bars and all around the ruffed up back area and let dry to hopefully hold the plastic grill in tight. if that doesnt work ill have to think of some kinda bracket to hold it firm.
this is what im talking about.

and i will be ditching the black/clear corner lights and putting the stock orange corners on this grill, but i will keep the black headlights and parking lights.
ill have installed pictures tomorrow. im letting the paint dry on the grill overnight before i handle it to much!

ya its the whole reason why i switched all of my chevy badges over to gmc so i can rock this grill hard!
i wanted to buy a grill and this billet grill insert at the same time. but hell that was like o man.... almost a year ago now.LOL
i really would like to have the full phantom grill upfront BUT they want like 300bucks for the pair of headlight/parking light billet grill pieces!!!!
and 300bucks... well thats not worth it to me for 4 small pieces of bent billet!

and no... the front grill is all i like on that truck.LOL
i used to want a cowl hood for the truck but ive been highly thinking of ditching that idea... right now its 50/50 if i will get a cowl hood next year. no big purchases till my tv gets paid off, then im highly thinking of getting some 20inch irocs for the truck.

ok well i got the grill installed on the truck now BUT two downfalls. obviously the paint doesnt match still/ no better than my previous paint even tho it looked really close from the cans lid! and the stock reflectors dont look as good as i thought they would on the grill.... so ill be slapping the black/clear ones back on the grill later on.
trucks pretty dirty!

and the small spot i missed sanding smooth
ill sand it down good before i paint it for real! im going monday after work to see how much a quart of paint will cost me and if its not to much buy it so i can paint the grill to match properly!
and on a side note today wind was down so i took a quick video of my exhaust. and YES my camera sucks for video! it always does that odd zoom in/out crap!

^^ Yea, but I think his outfit in the movie matches pretty well.
I'm definitely diggin' the sound, good stuff. It's almost as if your camera either has a heart beat, or is auto adjusting for some reason. Does it happen with all videos you make? Even ones where there aren't any loud noises or smoke that could be clouding a possible light sensor on the camera?

ya the paints off because it was just 2 small rattle cans of spray paint that i thought matched from autozone. its just a cheap @ss spray paint job so not out of much money... the matching paint will defiantly cost me alot more but im going to repaint it anyways.
and ya the video always sucks like that no matter what kinda video im taking! its mainly a camera which takes good pictures but horible video.
and yes those are my carharts
its cold out in the shop and i dont heat the shop unless im going to be out there for afew hours. today i just put the grill on the truck and changed the oil and also put my spare tire under the truck. and i must say the spare tire is VERY CLOSE to the one pipe which sucks.... but not much i can do about it... if it melts the tire ill just throw out the rusty spare steelie and slap one of my spare sport wheels with a low tread on it and hope it clears more. im going to give it a few days to see if it damages/melts the tire any then ill worry about it. muffler shop did the best they could with my truck lowered!
i dont think it will be a problem but if so i got a backup idea.
if that fails ill just be forced to slap the spare inside the bed.
