Cvcrcr's project/fix-up thread (version 1.1)
Thanks, but I have a long while before I could even think I am anywhere near as good with a car as you say/think. There is some crazy behind-the-driver door damage that I have no idea how to fix. Zero body work in my background. Yea, I can definitely work new parts in to fit right, but something like this....

....Not gonna get fixed by me in this life time. haha It looks worse in person, trust me.
Speaking of paint, I called the guy I know yesterday, but no return phone call yet
If I cannot get ahold of him by the end of this month, I will be going to a shop to get it done. Unless anyone local who knows someone that can do great work.... anyone?

Wow tell me why i never knew that was there
guess i just got on this site after that happened and never read that part in ur thread or somethin
still though i have no idea what im doing with prolly 90% of the stuff i have to do for my car and prolly wont even figure most of it out for a good while. I will probably never get to know body work unless i become some kind of body shop guy if my mechanical engineering path goes to the crapper lol

Bought the car in 2007 with the damage, and also, this is technically the second build thread, too. The first one was a turbo project which ended quickly due to lack of funds and getting laid off. Thus the reason I haven't really mentioned it too much in this thread.
But yea, no paint on the front end, damage on the rear 1/4 panel, that's the majority of the exterior problems.
You are how old? 18, right? I just turned 24, and I have been messing with Civics since I started driving at around 16. To be honest, it is experience. You will get there, trust me. There is a huge learning curve btw. You saw that destroyed $380 camshaft, right? haha Yea, 3 weeks and it was toast b/c I was an idiot and made a mistake assuming the rocker arms were fine and not looking at them. It would have taken about 10 seconds to do at the time, but I just wanted this cam in! Oh wells. **** happens

Actually yea i think i remember that
and yes u are right im 18, actually not even 18 yet, 18 on July 2nd, but close enough. Ive always been around cars though my dads always had hot rod pick-ups (66 and 65 Chevy C-10's) and a 87 Camaro and a 64 1/2 Mustang and uh an old 1904 chevy hot rod and a Dodge Dart. So i do know more than your average bear about cars but when it comes to actually doing technical/physical stuff and all i don't have the know how. Plus ive always been around older cars not newer ones like the civics so this is all new to me but i love em and the parts are prety damn cheap and the cars themselves run forever and can be practically bulletproof if you keep up with the maintenance etc so im determined to always have a dd/autox civic as my project no matter what it is. My dads always had projects so i think its only fair that i should too
Damn that was quite a long friggin essay lol sorry

When I got in to Civic's all I knew was I liked them and they were cool, didn't know jack ****. Lookin at like my first posts on this site it was apparent. But honestly I just researched **** all day, if there was something I didn't know what it was or what it did or how to install it I was looking it up right away. I'd say I know a lot about cars in general, but in this past year I've owned this car it is unblievable how much I know now. A year ago I probably wouldn't know how to do all the things I can now. You really have to have a drive to learn this stuff, nobody taught me really in person how a turbo works, or how to build an lsv. Everything I know I wanted to know, and I can't wait to start doing more of this stuff once I'm out of school. I try to do as much as I can now just to experience it.
I write big essays too. And Kenny, you should post up some pics of your dad's cars. My dad has had like 5 Vette's lol.

same here, but i grew up in the mechanic business since childhood, but was all old model chevy's. my first car was a 67 convertible firebird cherry red mint condition.
new nothig about civics til i was 15 when i got my first project a 85 crx si. and now im 25 and know **** tons, all because ive stayed up many nights doing research online and seeing what people did and how.and now my dad calls me up for mechanic help it feels unbelievable great to be able to teach your dad who has taught you everything you know and trust me ive made some bad descisions also like cvcvcr has and ive fuc*ed some thing up and its all trial and error. its life learn as you go sometime you lead and sometimes you follow, life's a chance learn as you go.

Scott: Damn thats dedication. I need to have that kind of mindset haha i tend to be extremely lazy haha my one thing holding me back is my parents. I cant touch my car really, besidesthe maintenance stuff. Kinda pisses me off a lot and i cant really tell my dad to fck off cause he'll hold it over my head for the rest of my life and i really need him to help me get started off in college so i dont wanna burn my bridges just yet.
Scott and CV: But the two of you are great examples of what i wanna be able to do. Scott uve taught urself everything and are dedicated to making this your future and CV you have your priorities straight while doing some great stuff with your car. Great examples for me, y'all really are. Damn that prolly sounded gay as hell sorry.
Oh but Scott we dont have pics of most of his cars, digital camera wasnt invented yet when we had most of them
We do have pics of his current 65 c-10 tho
Ill post em in my project thread lol i'll do some diggin though and see what i can find
*Edit: Haha mitch nice song quote there at the end
Thats a damn good song btw. You guys are all prety kool i get frustrated at people on here sometimes but a lot of you guys started out where i am now and have some very awesome things going for y'all now. Its prety kool to watch.

Got the fogs in finally. Guess what?!?!?! UPS did not touch them, and they arrived 100%, not even a nick on the box. FedEx ftw...always.
The passenger side bezel is in, but needs a little tweaking to sit 100% flush. Nothing has been done to the driver side as of yet.
Ummmmm thats it? damn... this was a lame post summing up what happened with the Civic this weekend. However, my bday was on Friday, my son's bday was on Saturday, and Father's Day was today... yea, just somewhat of a busy weekend. haha
