Yup. After heating the rods up, and keeping the pins in the freezer, I attempted it. After the first one, I stopped since it was not going as planned.

Replacement pistons are like $80, a new pin is ~$10 I believe, and I'll take everything to a machine shop to be pressed in. Scott, do you have an alternative solution by chance?

I'd just take them to a machine shop, they'll probably do the same thing (heat and freeze) and but they'll press them so it'll go in a lot easier, did you misst the pin and hit the piston a couple times? Or else try it in a vice and try to muscle it in.

I F-ed up the piston when using a hammer. I should have gotten something like a pin driver or whatever to hit instead of the pin itself. My other thought was to use a C-clamp since I no longer have a table-mounted vice like I did at my previous place.

Oh well. Once I figure out how to get the current pin out of the rod, I will take everything to a machine shop. Any suggestions on removing the pin/piston from the rod? The only thing I can think of would be to use a sawzall and cut though the piston and pin. I do not want to damage the rod.

EDIT: Over-the-weekend-update... Friday my car kept giving me issues with random CELs (IAT, ECT, TPS). After getting home on Friday and putting the little one to bed, I tried to start the car, and nothing. Fuel was getting to it (I could smell it lol), and the spark plugs/wires were new as of like 8,000 miles ago.

At first I thought it was an ECU issue, then an TPS issue (S300 was showing that the TPS was reading at 100% when it should have been 0%), so I replaced the throttle body with my OEM D16 TB, nope that wasn't it.

Switched out the distributor with a spare I have, still nothing. I finally figured out that I had a fouled up spark plug by pulling out the spark wire. Replaced the plugs and everything was fine. However, I had a vacuum leak somewhere and found it to be at the TB gasket. Fixed that and the car is running great again. phew.

Also, cleaned up my engine bay, worked on the g/f's Cavalier (getting ready to sell it I believe woot!), and fixed my Oil temp sensor issue. It had oil all over it and a piece of bare wire was touching the blower, grounding out the signal. That's all fixed up now. As you can tell, I had a busy weekend.

Use a pin punch from the otherside, either tapered to seat itself inside the pic or else a punch that is the same size as the id or close to.

Went out to look at a 100% complete h22a (red top - 220hp) w/ LSD and a spare trans. tonight for $1700. I was planning on buying it tonight, but the guy is saying it is a little too late to be meeting up. Tomorrow it is then. He says one guy from NY (~6 hr ride) is coming down to check it out tomorrow, too. Fingers are crossed and trying not to get too hopeful about it until it is actually mine.

Nvm. The guy was ready to sell to me last night, remembered that some flaker was supposed to come today, while I was waiving the cash in front of him and then sold it to someone else. I can't catch a break, can I ?

Found a different guy selling an H22 and trans for $1500. Ended up buying it for $1300 and an engine hoist for $150. Anyone want any D series parts?

Right now, I have a complete z6 bottom end (disassembled), shotpeened rods, toga oil pump, stage 4 6 puck CC clutch and flywheel, z6 timing belt/water pump/tensioner, arp flywheel/PP bolts, various z6 seals/gaskets, bisimoto 2.3 camshaft, and probably more for sale.

Once the y8 is out, I will be selling that motor, JRSC/injectors, maybe the meth kit, engine mounts and probably more.

If any one is interested, PM me. I'll make up a FS thread once I get pictures of everything.

Pics to come later of course

How much you selling the JRSC kit for?
What injectors are you running?
