Danomatic's Update Thread: Modifying the EJ1
I participated in the annual Road America - March of Dimes Driving event this year...
The event was an automotive massacre of (almost) epic proportions. Before the event even started my friend Chuck finished building his Ford Mustang SVO (4 cylinder turbo). After a test drive he spun a rod bearing rendering it unfit for the track. So he took his ‘winter beater’ which is a Ford Mustang 5.0.
-At the track a Honda S2000 broke loose and smashed into the barrier totaling it. It wasn’t even his car. It was his friend’s car.
-A Toyota Supra came off the track and parked. After his brakes cooled for a bit his front rotor cracked nearly in half.
-Randomly, a parked Chevy Corvette started on fire.
-At the end of the 3rd of 4 sessions I spun a rod bearing rendering my car unfit to drive above 2k rpms.
-Chuck’s Dad smashed into a barrier with his 05 Ford Mustang.
-A Porsche Carrera swiped a barrier and another Porsche blew some engine seals and it was spewing smoke.
So, to get my car home I had to keep the rpms below 2k (which means I could exceed 45mph) otherwise I could have thrown a rod through the side of the engine block and caused even more damage.

wow that sucks i wonder if my neighbor was there he races his miata there he's pretty hardcore but scared himself and his wife about 2 years ago when he smashed into a barrier at road of america so now he takes it alittle bit easier.
When it died I wasn't excessively revving or anything. So I'm attributing her death mostly due to age. I'll post up a video of the last minutes of my rod bearing...
