I think I melted my cat :|
I hear rattling coming from under the car. A month or so ago there were a few tiny, little metal pieces in my muffler which were making a rattle sound, I took off the axle back and dumped it out. Now the rattling is back but is coming from under the car. I think the cat melted or came apart.
It's possible... it scrapes over like every speed bump. Perhaps that caused the insides to break loose. I'll have to get under the car and check soon.
Looks like I might be forced to go with a test pipe... if this cat is ruined, there's no way i'm spending another $100 on another Magnaflow cat just to have it happen again. This cat is only 1-2 years old.

UGH

Yeah, I'm going with a high-flow eBay special when mine fails again. Emissions is no longer tested for 95 and older cars (older than OBDII) so I won't have to worry too much about that.
Cats are way too expensive for how cheap they are. I bought an OEM one and a year or 2 later it died, then I bought a cheapo aftermarket legit one and it's about a year now so I'm sure it's going to die soon.

So if I were to buy a new catback exhaust and since I have a 1994 dx it says I need a test pipe when buying the ex exhaust, does that mean you have the choice to either buy a test pipe or a high flow cat?

I've been confused on this for a while.

What is "it". You say "it says I need a test pipe". If you have an EG, you should be able to buy any cat-back exhaust and have no problems bolting it up to the cat under the car. If you owned an EK DX,LX,CX (anything other than an EX or SI) (96-00), then you would need to convert to an EX exhaust set-up since the cat would be built into the header.

I was referring to ebay and other websites that offer the different exhausts but i'm thinking you're right.

All 92-95 coupe/sedan exhausts have the same fitment, they're not trim-level specific.

I kinda feel bad having to use a test pipe, especially since I am so against them. I don't want to be a hypocrite, but it looks like it's what i'm going to have to do. :/

Well I took a couple more pics today. This camera phone is really picky on light conditions. Everything (dash, seats, carpet) is darker in person than in the picture.

Looks pretty good man. I hate the sound of test pipes, but cats can get frustrating. And since you plan on boosting, a test pipe would be a better choice anyway. You can keep your exhaust size consistent all the way back.
