Intake isolation box
My car is a 97 Candain EX sedan with a d16y7.
When the weather warms up I will be getting a Y8 intake manifold and so I will need to get an intake system to match to it. I have decided on a short ram due to ease of installation and not wanting to hydro lock my car.
What I would also like is one of those isolation boxes for the filter, this will keep the air coming in cooler so the engine will run better.
So far in my searching I have found 2;
Weapon-R Cold air box is made of aluminum and designed to fit either their Secret Weapon Intake or Dragon Intake.
Simota racing Sports Intake comes with a carbon fibre trumpet bell to collect more outside air.
I have never heard of Simota racing and I do not know what of Carbon Fibre's ability to reflect heat is. Plus I would have to find a place to buy it.
Weapon R's system is a full box, and made of aluminum, 2 pluses. But I would have to use a Dragon intake (which is crap) or the Secret weapon intake, which uses an oiled filter. This is better then paper but requires care (cleaning and re-oiling). I could go with this option, using a secret weapon, and then when the oil filter gets too dirty just buy an AEM paper filter an stick it on there.
or I could just buy a regular SRI and be done with it.
Any other opinions or suggestions welcome.
