Hmm, the is the one piece of rubber the only thing or is their also also like a glue type thing that goes around the cylinders. Some reading I did makes it sound like more than just the rubber gasket.

 

If you're thinking cylinder, you're thinking about the wrong gasket. You don't have accesss to the cylinders from under the valve cover...it's there just to keep oil from getting out of the head. There's almost no pressure in there(its vented into the intake), so there's not much stress going on.

 

So it is only the rubber gasket that needs to be replaced no matter what? Sorry I just depend on this car so much I can't afford for anything to go wrong.

Replace it if you feel like it...so far I've gotten no leaks with the old one...and probably wont get any. It's around $10

 

does the same paint process apply for the plastic covers as well?

 

15 bucks at Napa but it was like many pieces. $ for where the spark plug wires travel through and five for the bolts and the one large piece.
