Well it turns out that these guys work for the owners of the apartment thing. So I guess we are screwed. Im not really mad about getting the fine because it was our fault for not reading the sign, im just mad that they didnt bother to tell us not to park there. We later found out that they were sitting in the parking lot when we pulled in waiting for people to park. And what right do they have to hold my car there? Wouldnt they just want us to move? There has got to be something illegal about holding someones car for ransom lol.

So anyway do you think its legal to charge someone $75 cash on the spot or your car gets towed even though they have the sign there?
it was private property, no?

doesn't sound like it should be illegal to me.
+1, You get booted if you park in paid parking and never get a ticket. Was it like a pay parking lot?

well, parking on private property without being permitted means they can boot it, tow it, or have it impounded at their discretion and your cost.

especially if it's marked as private property/no parking

just be glad they didn't call the cops and have you arrested for trespassing

No, theres really not. that was kinda gay of them, but they have every legal right to imobilize your car for trespassing on thier private propety. And they can charge what every they want. it might be a completley bogas price but they can do it becuasue your on their land. I find it rather interesting that you think that their wrong for what they did for you when you were on their land. good thing you got it all settled though.
