he should if hes not doing much but surfing the internet.. im guessing ur game takes up at least 10 gigs.. depeneding on what game.. ur movies is gunna be another thing thats taking up ur space.. yes i do have 2 80 gigs and one is full of music. But for the average computer user i dont think hes gunna be having maaad pornos .." i mean a decent amount of movies".

sure. If you want to throw it away in about 2 years. 80gig HDD is wayy too small. I have 80gigs and I'm running out of space. I have a couple of gigs of music, decent amount of movies and one game installed. I only have 8gigs free.
With the setup you're proposing - he might as well keep his current machine.

u dont need dual core or 2 Gigs of Ram ur good with 512 and a 250 GB HDD might even be WAY to much for u too. U could easily go down to an 80 Gig hdd and be satisfied.. if ur not gaming or anything

better make sure that you motherboard supports SATA connections, cause if it doesn't you wil be outta luck if you buy that hard drive. i woudl make sure that you have either IDE or SATA beforehand

Your current choice for mobo is very nice already. I strongly recommend newegg if you know how to put things together. I've been shopping there since 2003. They're awesome.
well i mean alot of the stuff on there that i have on the list is cheaper on there then it is here at the store, and if that seagate is better then the western digital the i can get that off there too since its cheaper....just not sure what memory to get off of there.I could just order what i can off of newegg and just have the ppl here put it together...i know some but not enough.
will that seagate work with the mobo i have on my original list???

Yes, that seagate will work fine.
If you have a friend that could help you, that'd be the best, they don't cost nothing (make them pay if they blow your system up though, LOL)
RAM is very important, don't be cheap on it. Your mobo supports 240 pin DDR2 800 so look for that
Here's an example http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820178154
For OS, you could for XP Home (around $50 may be, it's same with pro except the limited networking) or go for Vista for $120
