1990 Honda LX has very strange front drive
Hello forum,
First time user and somehow my first post never made it. Would like to know why at some point.
Anyway, my LX Civic has a very strange front drive, that is, the mechanical connection from the tranny to the wheel. That driveshaft is standard at the wheel end. Where it connects to the tranny is very strange. There are 3 drive pins that slide into a shaped bell housing. There are no ball bearings, the drive shafts just turn in this small bell housing. Our parts store said they had never seen the like in 35 years.
Does anyone out there recognize this type of drive shaft? From another country?
This is how the drive shaft fits into the bell housing attached to the tranny
This is what I call the small bell housing that is attached to the tranny. No bearings, just those three pins driving it nakedly
this is the drive shaft. The three pins are on the right although you can't see them
