Default 1994 Honda Civic 1.6L (D16Z6) died while at a stop light..

I was on the interstate about to make a turn off into a side road, I was stopped when it happened...it just completely died. Wouldn't start or anything. The battery and starter were fine as I could hear the engine wanting to start, but it wouldn't completely turn over and start up...

I gave it a complete tune-up recently (plugs, wires, fuel/air filter, cap & rotor. I checked to make sure all these were fine, didn't see any problems..)

Now I have not even the slightest clue as to what it could be. All my belts (alternator, power steering, etc.) appear to be fine. What the world could it be? I had it towed to a shop and will be awaiting a phone call tomorrow but I'm just wondering what are the possibilities...

Everything electrical appeared fine when I went to try and start it again and again. CE light appears and goes off after a second or two, nothing out of the ordinary.

If it's a timing belt, is there a chance I bent valves seeing as I tried a couple of times to start it to see if anything would straighten out (which it didn't..)

It could be the fuel pump.
when you turn your key to the on(II) position can you hear the fuel pump priming?

It it's the timing belt you already bent some valves when the belt snapped.



take the oil cap off and shine a flashlight towards the cam and see if the cam turns when you have a friend crank the engine.

my guess would be fuel pump as well. Does it choke and sputter when you crank it?
Check to see that your fuel filter isn't plugged.

I have the car back now. It happened to be something in the distributor/ignition coil. Replaced the distributor assembly and everything is back to normal again.
