Default 50% oil ?

Hi,

I bought a brand new honda civic LX 2008 model in Nov '07 and i have driven 4000 miles so far.
I see in the dashboard display that it shows me 50% oil. so just wanted to know when should i change / refill it ? what does this 50% oil mean ? is it the engine oil ? I am a newbie. any suggestion would be of great help to me.

Thanks
Raagz

You will likely find this information in the Owner's Manual.

Hi,

Thanks for the quick reply. I'll surely check the manual.
Also is there any good link/information on how to maintain
well a honda civic 2008 car.

Thanks

I don't know a link for the 2008 Civic, but again maintenance information can usually also be found in your Owner's Manual in the glove box.

Pretty sure its referring to the oil life. In my dads duramax when the oil is fresh its 100% then at some percentage you are supposed to change it. But I not believe its telling you how much oil is in there. The owners manual should confirm.

In case you don't know, that display is just a guide for when to change the oil. It doesn't tell you everything about the oil. You need to open the hood and check the oil level manually, like every 1000 miles or so. Some cars even new cars need oil topped up inbetween changes.
