93 civic dx wont start
Are you saying the swich has proper continuity when it is switched on? I can't comment because I don't know what you are testing and how. Voltage or Ohms? What are you touching with the meter probes?
I was using the tester on the voltage scale on the clutch safety switich. no voltage.
Second I tested the clutch safety switch for continuity on the 200ohm scale both with seitch in position 3. there was contin. on the 200 scaLE. TRhanks for your patients with me. It sounds like a bear to change out the ignition switch but ya gotta do what you gotta do.

i had this problem in my 94 hatch and i jumped the wire
and also to remove the ignition you can use a dremel and cut slots into the head of the twist off bolt and use a flat head screw driver to remove them or you can use some needle nose vice grips.

Plug everything back together as stock, except the ignition switch. On the car side of the plug, put a jumper wire between battery and start (black/white wire). Be careful not to touch ground with the wire while doing this, it is going to be live all the time (they don't call it "hotwiring" for no reason).
Then push the clutch pedal down, engine should crank. If it does, the ignition switch is bad.
I didn't think you have to drill out the screws or replace the lock part. Take out the screws holding the plastic switch to the metal locking mechanism. You only need the plastic switch part.

This is true for 6th generation but 5th generation Civics. For the latter, the whole assembly must be replaced.
actually ive had 3rd 4th and 5th gen and they all have 2 screws on the back off the plastic piece unscrew them and unplug the clip and it will come off.. only reason to remove whole ignition is if the tumblers are bad or lost/broke key.
