Ok, the lights did not go out. So what on earth can my problem be? I push starts fine and after ive push started it once it starts fine there after with the key. But if I let it sit like over night or any extended amount of time I have to push start it.

Interesting. Might possibly be the circuit in the main relay that forces the fuel pump on when cranking. Disconnect the small wire at the starter, turn the key to III (I think you also need to push the clutch for this), and listen for the fuel pump to come on.

Well I can hear the fuel pump come on when I turn the key to the ll position. Its comes on for about 2.5 sec. then I can hear it shut off.

When you do mk's ON(III) test without pressing the clutch pedal, do you fail to measure battery voltage on the Blk/Yel wire attached to the coil in the distributor?

Related to this idea, also check whether fuse 18 under the dash is blown.

Whatever the problem is, it must be intermittent because this morning the car started fine with no problems??? Fuse 18 is good.

Ok. today it started fine ran fine untill around noon today and it just stalled out of the blue again. Cranked and cranked but didnt start, as soon as I push started it, it started right up but died a minute or two later. Did this over and over.

When the engine dies, do the dash lights also turn off even though the key was in ON(II)?

If you are lucky, it now won't start at all. I say this because intermittent problems are tricky. You need to start over with your troubleshooting:

Check for spark and whether the fuel pump primes. Is the CEL on? When you turn the key to ON(II), do the dash warning lights turn on?
