Default RE: broken bolt

If the bolt is broken off and you can't grab it with a bolt extractor or use an easy-out, then using an Oxy/Acetylene torch is a very good way to remove it. However, the way I have done it is slick but you have to remove the manifold from the car. (This is assuming you have tried everything else). You heat the bolt up until it is cherry red using the acetylene. Once it is glowing good you hit it with the oxygen. The burst of oxygen will blow out the bolt leaving the manifold unharmed. This works because the bolt is made of a much softer steel then the manifold. The only problem is you need the set of torches. A machine shop would probably do it for 10 to 20 bucks.
