bought a 1994 civic Ex...owner said A/C of that year did not blow cold...supposed to be typical of that year....have not checked freon yet, but curious about his claim???

 

They work pretty good when working properly, compared to many older Japanese cars (especially Subaru, which had really lame A/C). In very hot weather if you prefer the "meat locker" effect inside the car, it helps to put the air control on recirculate instead of fresh.

You really can't test the A/C system in cold weather. Wait until it gets warm.

If you buy an appropriate set of automotive freon pressure gauges for your car (R12 versus R134), you can determine whether or not the A/C system is working properly.
