Hi guys!!
I have a torn cv joint boot, so I have to replace the whole
axle shaft (right side) of my 1991 Honda civic DX
went to auto zone and the guy ask me, 23 or 26 spline outboard end?????

Can you tell me which one is the right one?
I live 4 miles of the nearest auto zone, so if I disassemble first to check, then
i won't have car to go and buy it.

The difference I believe is between the facelift years, 88-89 and 90-91. If you are asking for a 91 axle, I am surprised he would even have to ask the spline count...

 

Isn't it possible that you can count the number of spline by removing the axle nut only, without removing the whole thing (axle)?

 

Well I had to remove the whole thing, and the spline count
for that particular year and model is 26 outerboard and 30 inner

finally I fixed that part that was driving me nut

so why would the spline count be 23?
