Default Did I install my Tach correctly?

First off, you should know that I never did any wiring before this becase I've always been afraid of making a mistake that I can't undo. Despite this, the tach seems to be working OK. Here's what I did. There are 4 wires.

-Ground...Attached it to the chassis. CHECK

-Green (RPM info)...Attached it to the blue wire on the distributor harnass. CHECK

-White (Light/Dimmer)...Attached it to one of the three wires in the dash dimmer harnass. The backlight in the tach works, but does not dim. UNSURE

-Red (Power)...Attached it to the red wire in my head unit's harnass. I couldn't find any other source for voltage. [] Will that be a problem? UNSURE

Any input would be great.

yes you hook its up right..i have my tach light hook up to my dimmer too and i never notices if it dims when i dim the rest..but i never do that anways, and if you dont dim your lights..then thats good...but with the power wire being hooked up to your deck, does the tack only work when your deck is on ??, where your fuse box is there are spare pins, i would connect it to one of thos for a 12v source so whenever you turn your car on the tach goes on, but its up to you...and 1 more very important thing, did you fuse it?, if not..buy a inline fuse holder and a fuse (mine recommeded a 5A fuse) and put it inline with the power wire right before it gets hooked up to the 12v source

Good info. Thanks!

Nope...there's always power going through that wire. I checked it with the tach before I made the splice.

The tach I got came with a built-in fuse. I guess that's not common?
