Drive cycle to pass smog test
Can you do the OBDII drive cycle out of order and still make it work?
car: 2009 Honda Civic LX 16,000 miles
I recently replaced my battery and shortly after I did my smog check, the catalytic part of the test was not complete yet. So I drove 100 miles on the highway and still same issue with not being done.
So I went and looked up "drive cycle" and as recommended kept gas tank between 3/4th to 1/4th full, went out and tried to complete it. The problem is due to traffic and situations, I was not able to do it in any good order but I did each part in different order several times.
Basically.... I drove 55-60 mph for around 5 minutes with cruise control and then I let car coast to either stop or 20mph while not using brake and accelerated and repeated. Other than starting the car in the morning after being cold and letting it warm up with ac and rear defroster on, this is pretty much the drive cycle but just out of order.
Should that be good enough if my sensors are working adequately?

you need to do a idle re-learn procedure which for the older model requires you to reset the ecu with all electronics turned off some models required to hold the rpms at a certain rpm for a couple minutes. search online for your cars relearn otherwise it could take days or weeks for the car to manually relearn the fuel trims usually two or three tanks of gas.

Thanks for the help...
I believe my car will pass the smog test now. Turns out the check engine light can tell you when it has checked off all the tests.
From the manual:
"To check if they are set, turn the
ignition switch to the ON (II)
position, without starting the engine.
The malfunction indicator lamp will
come on for 20 seconds. If it then
goes off, the readiness codes are set.
If it blinks five times, the readiness
codes are not set. If possible, do not
take your vehicle for an emissions
test until the readiness codes are set."
