Default e-brake light problem

HI, im new here, and have a question.

i drive a stock 99 civic cx. when i accelerate in 1st and 2nd, once i reach 3000rpm, my e-brake light (!)
will light up, and stay on until i shift or let off the gas. i have held the brake lever down hard while accelerating, but the problems remain.

any thoughts on this? this has me and my buddies stumped.

thanks!

You might wanna check on the little switch under the ebrake that controls that light. To get to it, you have to pull the arm rest/console off. Check and see if the switch is damaged or has moved somehow.

It will also light up if the brake fluid level is low. Check that you have enough. You could also disconnect the switch on the reservoir as a test to make sure that's not triggering it.
