Hi, I have a 1998 civic dx that has been experiencing engine problems that I cannot track down. The symptoms are that the engine will be runnung just fine most of the time but sometimes the engine "hesitates."The car dies without sputteringand the little enginesilhouettelight comes on and then after a short period of time (sometimes less than a second sometimes about 2 seconds) the car starts back up. I have found that I can get it to restart faster by pushing in the clutch and quicklycycing the key off and than restarting the engine.

This has been going on for sever months and then today it happened and the car didn't restart and the little enginesilhouettelightstayed on. I puled off to the side and cycled the key acouple times and that didn't do it and the light still stayed on. I popped the hood and checked to make sure the spark plug wires were tight and they were. After about 2 minutes, I tried to restart and it started right back up and ran like nothing had happened.

I would appreciate any tips, advice, or knowledgethat might be useful. Thank you in advance.

 

sounds like your main relay is going bad. it located right above were your hood release is located its a black box. or you fule pump might be going out also
