Gear probs
hey i guys i,m pretty new on dz site.
i had a problem wit my alarm system , thats why i had to unpulg my battery.
After that i pluged it back in & turned it back on , now it dose not move frm parkin , gear dose not shift at all. Also my break light dose not come on at all.
Sorry to be a pain , but if any one of u guys help me out, that would be very nice of u guys .. thanks a lot & thank you all once again ( its a 97 civic ex)

The problems are related. The shift handle is supposed to lock in park unless you step on the brake. This is controlled by the brake light switch and circuit, the same circuit that turns the brake lights on. Either the switch is bad, fuse blown, or something with the wiring of the alarm.
I think there is a way you can stick a key in the shifter and temporarily bypass the interlock so you can drive the car, but you shouldn't drive in public without brake lights anyway.
