um ok, i bought my car with 95,000 miles on it, and i dont know if the timing belt has ever been changed. so my question is: how can i check if its been change and about how much does it cost to replace (shop vs myself)

u should change the Timing beltalong with water pump at 110,000 mile. and it really depends on the conditions if u live in either hot or cold area and drive u car all the time that is considered severe conditions that case change ur timing belt and water pump and dont delay unless u wanna damage ur engine.its pricey thought
i change mine two months ago and i found out that the old timing belt and water pump were somewhat new but i didnt want to risk it .
u need a professional mechanic since u seem to have zero knowledge as well as me.its about 300$ i paid 350$ canadian at the deal.if u know mechanic u can trust u might pay way less.good luck

Either call up the previous owner and ask if it was ever replaced, or go to the dealer and see if there's any service records about your car.

When in doubt, change it out!
