how do you lean out a D-series?

Default how do you lean out a D-series?

I want to lean out my engine a tad to help save gas. Can this be done by just advancing the timing or retarding the timing?? Dont plan on boosting or anything like that.

I think it can only be done by changing your fuel injector or a leaner programmed ECU. Don't mess with your timing, as this won't lean it out.
