ya id just get a new part and replace it... keep it how it should be...... thats the way it was designed... it pulls cooler air from the intake tube.... pulling air off the hot motor block..... sure wont help much!

it's called an Air Assist Solenoid and is part of the ridiculous OBD2 system. You need to get a new one stat.
