Default Is my vtech working properly?!?

Hello, Can anyone help me with my car!

I have a honda civic 1.5i LS vtec 1996. Engine d15z6 im pretty sure thats wot the engine is anyway!

Query: When i put my foot down i cant tell when the vtec has kicked in! it doesnt make a sudden change in noise or give any extra power to the car. Could something be wrong or is it ment to be like that as im not to sure with this model!

Thanks in advance!

what model is it check on the engine block to see what engine number it is. if it is a 1996 EX then it is more than likely a d16y8 1.6 vtec. if it is not an ex i dont belive any other model had vtec. unless its an si or type r if they even made em. or maybe the motor was swapped in just check the block to see what engine it is. d16z6 is the ex1.6 vtec from92-95 and 96-98 maybe till 2000 had d16 y8 1.6 vtec. just check the engine and get back. if its not vtec you wont notice the vtec kicking in....simply because there is none

Well, theres no such thing as a d15z6, you've either got a d15, or a d16z6. Check the engine for the actual code

Then, Check to see if you have a VTEC solenoid

If you have vtec, and a SOHC, you're not going to feel/hear much difference. It's not like NAAWWZZZ or anything.

I have checked my engine and yes it does have a vtec solenoid and it is (D15Z6), its written on the engine!! It is SOHC aswel. Just wasnt sure if it was ment to give that proper kick like the other vtecs i have been in do! oh it also says it is an EK3 if that means anything!
