Default New Suspension questions

People,

Needing all new shocks (rear/fronts). 2001 civic EX, 2 door, 1.7L engine. 170,000 miles. Would you but the front struts WITH the coil spring or not? Also, same question on the rear, as I understand the rears also have a coil spring (never seen a car with that yet). Should Gabriels or Monroe be decent? Just want the car to stop bouncing up/down/sideways on highway going 70 mph.

Thanks.

if all you're looking for is new shocks and factory type ride - go ahead and get monroe quick struts. nothing wrong with them other than I personally don't like them...

If they are not sagging - sure. I had a problem where one side of my civic was lower than the other - springs were tired on that side for some reason. If you don't have that - just replace the struts.

to just stop the bounce any familiar name brand shock is fine as the 2 you suggested. also second stifflers comment on springs. however im not sure how common the strut top hat goes bad but i would get that too.

If you're in there you might as well replace it. It ain't expensive.
