Outer CV joint removal

Outer CV joint removal
Hello,
I am searching right now for how to do this... And have been looking for a while.
The outer joint is a ball and cage type, and the clip is on the inside of the joint. How am I supposed to separate this???
I know it is easier to replace the axle, and I found a thread about it... But I have the boots, and the axles off of the car. If anything, I am doing it for the experience.

It has been more than 10 years since I had done this kind of job so ,,,,,,,I think you need to disassemble inner joint to slide out outer boot. I remember the retainer ring was bear to remove for the limited tools I had back then.
I also remember positioning outer joint at extreme angle and popping the ***** out and such,,,,
How did I do,,,,??
Getting old is not fun.

Officially, the outer joint is not to be disassembled in the field. I suspect the factory uses a machine to force them. The price of rebuilt axles is low enough it's really not worth messing with the joints even just to redo the boots.

ended up taking off the "dynamic damper" and sliding the outer boot off of the inner joint end... This is just a temp fix, and I did it for the experience of it. I will end up buying new axles soon enough, but it was fun to learn although messy.
