Is it possible to adjust the idle for a 1991 civic lx?
I have the car running fine, but now it seems it is idling just a little too high.
In park, it idles at about 1.25k RPM's.
Is it is as easy as a turn of the screwdriver somewhere, or should i just unhook the battery, and let the computer reset itself?.
Thank you!!

Before trying to adjust anything, warm up the engine, unplug the IACV and see if the idle speed drops. If it does, the ECU is driving the IACV to increase idle speed and any attempt you make to adjust the throttle, etc. will be counteracted. The ECU is programmed to increase idle speed when the engine is cold, or when it thinks it is cold. Pockets of air in the cooling system or a bad ECT sensor will throw off the reading the ECU sees.
If idle speed does not drop with IACV disconnected, then too much air is getting into the intake somehow. This could be the throttle plate adjustment, throttle cable stuck or too tight, the IACV stuck open, or a vacuum leak. Anything that lets air into the intake will cause the idle speed to increase.
