Might the bulb possibly be burned out?

Or someone removed the bulb. Do you even have air bags in the first place? In the USA it has happened more than a few times that a used car is sold unscrupulously after it has been totaled in a crash. When the air bags deploy it is expensive to replace them, so the car is written off even though the damage to the rest of the car may be rather minor. One can even buy blank covers that say "Air Bag" on the front but absolutely nothing behind them to support this endeavour.
