Default sudden lag in power

Ok I have sat here and read through all 13 pages in this section and nothing helped me even begin to figure out whats wrong.

Details: 2000 Civic SI B16A2 with an unknown intake and RS*R Catback exhaust installed by PO.

Issue: Car runs fine for the most part the problem is when Im accelarating between 4k and 4500 rpms it feels like the engine just falls on its face but once the engine gets past 4500 its fine. Also sometimes it has an audible spit and sputter starting at about 6800 rpms but doesnt do it all the time, I replaced the plugs, the DC and rotor look new, the plug wires may be the problem but not entirely sure if that is the entire issue. The PO told me that he replaced the clutch and slave cyl. and brake pads and turned the rotors about 1k miles before I bought it and thats all I know of the maint. of it. The falling part is anywhere from 1/2 to full throttle

Sound similar to what I'm experiencing as posted in:

https://www.hondacivicforum.com/foru...ad.php?t=84861

Even tho the heck engine light is NOT being tripped, i checked it and am getting codes 14 & 41.

Thanks for the suggestion but mine is a manual and it doesnt really shudder it sounds more like a miss fire but not enough to throw the light and I have checked the ECU and there isnt any codes in there except the P1259 I think it was but that came on and I had it checked out, it was due to low oil pressure bc the oil level was low, it has me stumped bc I thought I had it cured bc it didnt do it for a few days after I changed the cam endcap and dizzy O-Ring but it came back none the less and the lag in power is only from 4k to 4500 rpms it feels like someone just kicked it in the ***** and it fell on its face then got right back up, if that makes any sense.

What would you suggest on checking that I have heard many ideas like brake clean and starting fluid is that ok to use or is there something safer/better

Most any kinda spray will produce a change in rpm when it hits a leak.
It'll either speed up or slow down.
WD-40 would probably be just fine. Might be kinda messy though.

Unless you suspect a particular point of leaking, I probably wouldn't just start spraying willynilly.

No its an Electronic advance on it its a 2000 SI with the B16A2 V-TEC engine in it I will try this weekend to see if there is a vacuum leak most likely if it is a leak it would be one of the hoses this engine doesnt look like it has any of the manifolds off so I will start with the hoses
