Timing belt change advice?
Hi Guys,
I've just picked up a 2003 standard 1.4 Civic. Its a family car and does that nicely, so dont laugh! It was damn cheap.
But I have just flicked through the log book and the car has done 115k but never had a belt change. Eek - is that as seriously over due as I think it is??? Despite pretty much full service history with a Honda garage. Im waiting for the Haynes manual to arrive from eBay later in the week.
I do try to maintain and service my cars myself but just wondered how difficult the belt kit will be to do? I know it might take a few hours but is it particularily difficult and/or you need specialist tools out side of my ususal spanners and wrenches?
Thanks in advance,
Dean.
PS Is it worth doing the water pump at the same time?

if the water pump is run by the timing belt then yes it is recommended that you change it as well. to do this you'll need jack stands, a jack. a breaker bar because you'll have to take off one of the engine mounts. other than that no there aren't any other specialty tools you should need I don't think. Once you get started you'll find out if you need any more.
