01 civic 100,000 km Check engine light came on last week, so the dealer charge $90 to check the codes,

codes are p0700, p0131, p0740

said transmisson , rear main seal , and the o2 sensor are gone, all at a nice total of $4000 + tax

the tranmisson fluid was changed last year

Any recomendadtions , the car runs perfectly fine, and there is no light on right now

You could of saved yourself that $90 by simply going to autozone, advanced auto parts, etc. and get them to check them
FOR FREE
Recommendations:
Go to there next time

Not much to recommend, what needs to be changed needs to be changed and if you can't do it your self you really can't save any money unfortunately =/, mabye your friends shop can cut you a better deal.

If this is a Honda Dealer I think they're trying to rip you off! My experiences with Dodge Dealers are that they always try to suggest / add some unnecessary repairs. I got milked $1200 for my last one, and I'll try to never again use a dealer for any car. Dealerships are known to be rip off repair jobs, even though they do good certified work! Find a good independent mechanic!

My Grand Caravan was working fine except for a broken water pump. They sugested other repairs like an oil sender, oil pan gasket, coolant hoses - and I went along with it without a pre quote. Then they ripped me off charging me $130 for changing a simple oil sender, $210 for the oil pan gasket, etc. I'm never going back!
