vss or tranny?
Thanks for the info guys. Its gonna have to be the gear in the tranny cause ive replaced the vss and double checked the plug.Normally I would go with the tach but work is an hour away and alot of state troopers between here and there.Looks like time in the shop before I actually get to start driving it...as to the speeds I belive its possible, but its gonna take a long clear shot.I had a 95 Z28 that would do it in a half mile(finally died on me..lol).
Here is a little more info for the VSS for those that may not know. The vss is a 2 piece unit. the small plastic gear at the end of the vss comes out by pulling the pin out of the shaft. The plastic gear can be replaced seperately of the electrical part. The plastic gear is $23. and change at your local Honda Dealer and the electrical part is $100. and change. The plastic gear has some pretty tall teeth so if yours are not very tall it could be worn. The plastic gear inside the tranny doesnt have real tall teeth so it wouldnt take alot of wear on the vss to keep them from touching. But if you replaced the gear on the vss also and that didnt fix it, then I would say it is probably the plastic gear in tranny. On my last post i said it was easily accessible, I forgot the plastic gear was on the back side of the differential after you split case. you have to pull the main & counter shaft to be able to get the differential out. So there is a little more involved but these tranmissions are pretty simple. If you are capable of doing it yourself I would recommend it otherwise if you have to take it to a shop it will cost you big time for them to do that.
